Underage Crush: The Barroom Heroes

This story goes out to all of the local housewives reading Boston Band Crush.  In a turn of cute local stories that usually appear in the town newspaper, The Barroom Heroes, no not the ones from LA, not the ones from Germany, a local band of young kids (ages 9-12) who best pick a new band name, have had their discriminatory plight covered by The Herald recently.  The kids were having a tough time getting a gig because of their ages, but after The Herald ran a story, it seems that everyone is excited to give them a little stage time.  They also got backstage passes to meet Dropkick Murphys and Aerosmith.  Ah, to be young and repressed.

I couldn't find a web page, photos, or music to post here, so you'll just have to look at what the Herald has got.

I am the Mgr of BarRoom Heroes and the Mom of two of them here is an update and some background. They are a Weymouth base Punk band who work very hard at what they love to do, they oldest member Jake 12 has taken lessons for 6 yrs, Nick 11, 5 yrs and Sam 4 yrs. This started as an ensemble program, same as dance recital except is twice a year. Has been going on for 12 yrs with no issues. Restaurants donate a venue and 5 to 6 bands of all ages get to play. A lot of venues serve alcohol, hope your family parties doen't. These kids take lessons once a week with instructors, do ensemble program with their guitar teacher, practice twice a week on their own and have written 6 original songs. They may never be The DKM or The Clash but they aren't playing video games either and with their commitment we are not about to not support them. They have done countless benefits/fundraisers with no pay just to play. They have inspired their peers to take lessons. They are good kids whom play sports, do well in school, have a lot of great friends and love to play music. You either get it or you don't, if you don't you have no idea of what you are missing!
