Information Crush: Amy's Show List

This is a huge weekend for music, lots of really great shows to choose from. On Thursday there's a strong bill at the Middle East Upstairs with Lights Out, The Future Everybody (featuring former members of Scamper) and Gene Dante & the Future Starlets (to add a little glam to your life). There's also Three Day Threshold finishing their Thursday residency at Atwoods. Friday looks busy busy busy. If you need a touch of a New Orleans party then the House of Blues show with the Neville Brothers and Dr John is for you (and hopefully you got to take advantage of the cheap tickets that Ticketmaster was offering). Barrence at the Plough is a guaranteed good time and the Vivs and Buttercup at Toad looks cool too. The show that's talking to me though is the Gentlemen's 10th Anniversary show at Precinct, hopefully I get there before it's too full. On Saturday what can I say? I'll be at the Middle East for the big One Night Band show. I think it'll be a blast, in a kinda messy but totally fun way. Plus it's a benefit show so you get to feel good for rocking with proceeds going to the non-profit, Zumix. On Sunday, I wish I had tickets to see the Flaming Lips but I don't so instead I'll be torn about going to the Bloodshot Records Beer-B-Q at the ME with Graham Parker and others for only $5 or going to Toad to catch the Rudds reunion show which is free, decisions...decisions...

I noted on the list of a couple of shows that have been cancelled. If you were planning on the Charlatan UK at the Paradise, forget it. Also forget about seeing Maximo Park also at the Paradise, they cancelled their tour. And Dolores O'Riordan at the Paradise is off (but I think that's because the Cranberries are getting back together and working on a tour). What's up with all of these cancellations, anyway?

An upcoming free show that I want to mention is the Polyphonic Spree at the Paradise on September 17th. So what if they dress like they're in a cult, it should be a fun show. Just go to www.southerncomfort.com to sign up.
