This weekend is chock full of cool things to add to your calendar. On Thursday, there are a couple of instrumental shows that look good. There's the Dirty Three at the ICA or if local bands are more your thing, there's a strong triple bill at TTs with Axe Munkee, The Invisible Rays and the Weisstronauts. But if you're feeling funky and want to hear Cult of Personality, head over to Johnny D's for the big show with Living Colour, but get there early (like 6p) if you really want to get in. On Friday, make certain you sign up for free chocolate in the morning, time's running out on that offer. If you feel like braving the crowds and traffic, the Kings of Leon with openers Glasvegas in Mansfield would be cool. If you prefer to stay local, how about Andrea Gillis and Watts at Precinct? On Saturday, the Cult performs their album Love in full at the House of Blues. But my Saturday pick has got to be The Odds and Muck & the Mires at Precinct. What a great night of garage pop and the first time in 20 years for the Odds to be playing in the Boston area. On Sunday, I hope it's nice weather cause there are a couple of afternoon festivals to check out. One at the Narrows Center in Fall River with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Beausoleil and others and it's free. And then Precinct is hosting their Outdoor Festival in Union Square with Jenny Dee and the Deelinquents, Andrea Gillis and Barrence Whitfield. Sunday night has too many choices. If you want to go old school, Hugh Cornwall from the Stranglers is at TTs but I think I'd pick Sondre Lerche at the Paradise, he puts on a great show in a suave, crooner way. On Tuesday, I am very tempted by the Fruitbats at TTs. I haven't seen them before but they've been on my to see list for a while so maybe this is the day. On Wednesday, Yo La Tengo is at the Wilbur and they are great live.
