Information Crush: Amy's Show List

Happy Autumnal Equinox! I can't believe that we are entering the fall season, how did that happen? Fortunately there are many shows to occupy our time and to keep us from thinking about the upcoming cold weather that right around the corner. On Thursday I hope you got you code to see Polyphonic Spree at the Paradise. If you didn't, there's always uke master Melvern Taylor at Toad or you can go to the Middle East to catch Hollywood starlet turned to rocker, Juliette Lewis. On Friday, there are lots of great choices and you can't go wrong with any of them. If rockabilly's your thing head over to TTs for the Ragin' Teens reunion show with Barrance Whittfield and the Swinedells. Or if a more moody subdued night is what you're looking for then Damon & Naomi at the Cambridge YMCA is the place for you. Or if you're looking for some great local bands, then think about Church on both Friday and Saturday night where Boston Band Crush is presenting What's Your Major? Saturday during the day in Union Square in Somerville there's the Urban Country Fest with Three Day Threshold, Lucky 57 and Brother Cleve as the DJ. On Saturday if you're not at Church, try folk pioneers Steeleye Span at the Somerville Theatre or check out the film The Big Lebowski at the House of Blues because we all know that the Dude abides. On Sunday if you don't have tix to U2 or it you're depressed that Maximo Park got cancelled, check out Jack Penate at TTs. It looks like a great show. On Monday I'm all about the Apple Betty show at Charlie's Kitchen. Tuesday has Steve Wynn (from the Dream Syndicate) and the Minus 5 at the Middle East. I'm hoping they'll perform some of their baseball songs. Or if that's not your thing there's Son Volt at the Paradise (remember when Son Volt and Wilco coxisted in almost perfect harmony as Uncle Tupelo?
