Information Crush: Amy's Show List

This is one of those weekends that I've been looking forward to for a long time and if you have too then yay! It's here. On Thursday, there's free ice cream at Coldstone Creamery which is a good start to any weekend. Also on Thursday, there are good choices for music for exotica/tiki music there's Waitiki at Ryles, there's Moby at the House of Blues, there's Poi Dog Pondering at the Regatta Bar, there's Elizabeth and the Catapult at TTs and Three Day Threshold at Toad. The Friday show that I'm really looking forward to is a big one at Church with Vivs' cd release party, a Barnies reunion and Dave Minehan, how cool is that? Although Thunderpants Johnson Hillbilly Orchestra at the Middle East Corner would be extremely entertaining, there just aren't enough jug bands these days. But if you want to stay in the suburbs, there's a geezer rock show in Quincy with Jetset and Highland Quirk Moore at the Granite Rail. On Saturday there's the big Fluff Fest in Union Square, Somerville, how sweet it is. Saturday night I'm all about the My Own Worst Enemy show at the Cantab (featuring Ms September from the Club Bohemia website, Sue). But if that's not your thing check out Mike Viola at the Lizard. On Sunday, definitely go to the Mark Sandman Memorial Concert in Cambridge (yay, Treat Her Right is playing!). It starts at 1p so plan on being there. I can't believe it has been 10 years since we lost Mark way too soon. Later on there's another geezer rock show with James Kozmetix doing their Lou Miami tribute at Church. There's also the Ditty Bops at Passims who are pretty groovy in a 1940's kind of way. Monday brings Sunny Day Real Estate at the House of Blues for their reunion tour. Tuesday has the Andrew WK at the Coolidge Corner Theater, kind of a strange venue but whatever. On Wednesday there's a benefit for the Mark Sandman Music Education Fund at TTs or the Butthole Surfers at the Paradise, very cool.
