Information Crush: Amy's Show List

Another great week of cool music! On Thursday there are some awesome choices: there's the legendary Al Green at the House of Blues (hopefully you took advantage of reduced tickets thru Live Nation), great indie rock at the Middle East Downstairs with The DoDos and The Ruby Suns, The Ego and the Oracle (aka Jim of Jim's Big Ego) at the Burren, the reclusive cult figure Daniel Johnston at the Paradise and more, how to choose? Friday brings Art Brut to the Middle East, Reverse to Church and the Spendid Nobodies to Toad; all are great choices. On Saturday you can get your rock in early and help a good cause by heading over to the Middle East at noon for the Benefit for Breast Cancer Awareness, For Amie with appearances by Kristin Hersh, Bill Janovitz and others. Later on at the Middle East you can check out the Electric Six who are always entertaining. Also on Saturday night the Queen of Soul, Aretha is at the Citi Performing Arts Center, Audry Ryan is at the Nave Gallery, School of Seven Bells at the Paradise and Dave Aaronoff's at the Plough. For Sunday, I am all about Echo and the Bunnymen at Great Scotts (yup, somehow I miraculously got tix for the show, yay!). Please don't fret if you don't tickets, Echo's coming back in November to the House of Blues and there are some good shows going on Sunday night. You've got the Avett Brothers at the House of Blues, Lucero at the Middle East and also a free show with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (go to www.kiasoulcollective.com to get on the list). On Monday, I'd suggest the Middle East, both shows up and down look good, up you've got Sian Alice Group and The Postmarks and downstairs you've got the Revival Tour with Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music, Jim Ward of Sparta and others(doors for the downstairs show is at 7p). The Ravonettes are at the Paradise on Tuesday and they put on a great show. There's another chance to see Bill Janovitz this week by going to the Brattle Theater, also on Tuesday. Wednesday has lots of good music to check out. There's the Icelandic band Mum at the Somerville Theatre, Ken Stringfellow's, of the Posies, new band The Disciplines at TTs, Johnny Cash's daughter Roseanne at the Museum of Science and Kingsley Flood at Church.

People might also want to consider Golden Silvers at Great Scott on 10/23 and We Have Band on 10/25 again at Great Scott.
Not many folks have heard of We Have Band but when they played SXSW in March everyone who saw them were totally impressed.
