Apparently Halloween Weekend means every band in the area is appearing as another band, could be entertaining or just confusing I guess we'll have to check them out to find the answer. On Thursday you can go to TTs and see the Talking Heads, Robert Palmer x 2, The Replacements and The Who. Or you could go to the Plough for the surf band The Trabants and the Middle East has King Khan & the BBQ Show and Downbeat 5. On Friday the Armory in Somerville has a spooky event with the screening of Phantom of the Opera and music by Alloy Orchestra (Boo...scary...). Also on Friday you can go to Precinct and see Sargent Pepper, Led Zepplin and The Talking Heads(hey, didn't The Talking Heads play on Thursday too?). You also have a chance to check out the new band Old Jack at the Cantab. Saturday also known as Halloween has way too many choices. There's another movie at the Armory, Nosferatu and Devil's Music is providing the backing music. The Lizard Lounge has a night of Kidz Rock by Boston Cover Up which looks great (that's assuming there are still tix left, if you're planning on going, get there early, with so many bands playing the Lizard it is gonna be crowded). Another strong show is at Church with Duran Duran, The Runaways, Phil Collins and Ziggy Stardust, wow! And on Sunday you can catch an afternoon geezer rock show at the Midway with James Straight. Sunday night has Liam Finn (who is from NZ and is Neil Finn from Crowded House's son) at the Middle East. Also the guys from Travis (who I adore) Fran Healy and Andy Dunlop are at the Armory, very tempting. on Tuesday I really want to go see the Mary Onettes at TTs probably because I need a fix of Swedish pop music although the show at the Middle East looks interesting with Thao and the Get Down Stay Down (probably cause they have a video with puppets in it). And on Wednesday Amy Millan at the Middle East looks pretty great for pop goodness.
So I hope everyone has lots fun plans for this Halloween weekend and I hope you have great costumes (really need to figure something out about a costume for me, hmmm...). And remember treats are nicer than tricks.
