Show Crush: Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, Shoney Lamar and the Equal Rights, Mrs. Danvers, Justin Shorey @ Church Friday 11/6

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past month or so you're probably aware that there is a completely spectacular bill appearing tomorrow night at Church presented by Hear Now Live:

Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling
: This duo, made up of the secret spy alter-egos of two of the cofounders of this very blog plays intense, dark indie art-rock with a punk soul.

Shoney Lamar and the Equal Rights
: I'm not sure what glowing things I can say about these guys that I haven't already said in previous posts. Raucous, in-your-face, dancey punk-folk with a crazy charismatic front man.

Mrs. Danvers: I'm intrigued by Mrs. Danvers's bio, where they're described as "a real rarity: an all-female, queer-identified quintet who makes unashamedly catchy, energetic danceable pop/rock." From what I can hear the "danceable pop/rock" description works, and I'm extremely excited to see how they translate live.

Justin Shorey
: Dylanesque, insightful folk rock with a vintage feel. I've been sitting here for twenty minutes trying to verbalize why I love Justin's music so much, and I just found this description from Band in Boston, which I'm going to use because it's kind of perfect: "Justin comes from the Woody Guthrie school of folk – catchy, emotionally charged, but with tongue planted in cheek enough to keep it from getting maudlin." So there.

Basically if you don't come early and stay late you're kind of beyond redemption.
