Welcome to December! On Thursday I have one word to say and that word is Sloan. They'll be at TTs with Scarce and it's a show I've been looking forward to for a long time, yay! Friday has many many choices, some might say too many choices. My top two are The Satanics at the Armory (cause nuthin' says the holiday season like devil music? plus they play so rarely these days it should be a blast) and the Weisstronauts Holiday Party at Sally O'Briens. Since both shows are in Somerville, I'm thinking do it all. On Saturday My Own Worst Enemy is playing at the Cantab and I hear they have some X-Mas songs on deck, also on the bill is The Stories (who had a hit in the 1970's on AM radio), Shakespeare Riots and The Observatory. Down the street at TTs The Raging Teens are hosting their Holiday Hoedown with The Swinedells and Preacher Jack. If those shows don't work for you, there's Hooray for Earth at Great Scotts or Gene Dante at Church. On Sunday the Bazaar Bizarre is happening at the Cyclorama and it's a great opportunity to find cool and unique holiday gifts. Sunday night has a really amazing show at the Paradise, Viva Christmas Extravaganza! with El Vez and the Elvettes, Los Straitjackets (who have a new holiday surf cd) and Barrence Whitfield and the Monkey Hips. The price tag for this show is a little steep but the lineup is stellar. Weezer's back on Monday at the Agganis, not certain if tix are still available. On Wednesday, the fab Holly Golightly is at the Middle East but I think I have to hand it to a night of exotica music at the Fireplace in Brookline with Orchestrotica Mini, hopefully they'll have umbrella cocktails there.
