Faux Rumble Crush: Quiet Desperation's Alterna-Rumble at Great Scott tomorrow!

In 2005, Robby Roadsteamer took second place in WBCN's annual Rock and Roll Rumble.  In 2006, yours truly (in the guise of Scamper) came in third.  And now in 2010, I'm sitting here blogging about Rob Potylo (née Roadsteamer)'s hijacking and lampooning of said Rumble.  See?  This is what happens if you don't win it, kids!

When WBCN went under this past August, one of the biggest concerns in the local rock community was the fate of our beloved Rumble.  Anngelle Wood brought Boston Emissions over to WZLX, which gave us hope, but now it's springtime in Boston and there's nary a Noise Board thread about who's in the Rumble.  (Hahaha Noise Board.  Just kidding, 2006!)  The truly unfortunate part of this is in the timing of it all; in 2009, the Rumble was infused with all new life and spirit, with social media giving it a shot in the arm and kick in the pants.

To fill our empty souls, Rob (and his Quiet Desperation Reality Sitcom – relevant episode here) are hosting a mock Rumble tomorrow night at Great Scott, promoting it as a grassroots, anti-corporate alternative to the traditional Rumble.  Call it what you will, it promises to be a sweet night of rock and roll, full of tribute to the Rumble as we once knew and loved it.

On the bill:

HUMANWINE
Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling (former Band Crushers Mike and Sophia!)
Rob Potylo (full band)
